DAY 7 67 MILES TOTAL MILES 489

As we were driving from the Hotel back to the point we left of yesterday the rain was pouring down. I guess things like that happen…. We put our rain gear on and by the time we got started it was dry. We kept our gear on incase it would start again. (See picture, I did not ride like that…) At our next sag stop we got rid of the rain gear. It was sunny and warm the rest of the day. We were amazed we never got wet…..

One of the things that I think has become tradition is that Mike gives us a serenade while we are biking. He has a great voice, so these are very special moments. Yesterday, Mike was riding ahead of me and Melissa behind me. At one point Mike started singing “Moon River” (we ate at a restaurant named Moon River the night before) Then Melissa joint in so I was biking with surround sound (how much better can it get…)

Mary is our animal person; she will always have an apple on her to feed a horse when she sees. Today there were no horses but we did see a bunch of goats and 2 pigs. So Mary fed the pigs (see picture) I was asked the other day if we took the time to smell the roses. Well as you can see Barb today we smelled the pigs…. For the rest it was a great day riding. The first 20 miles every body was kind of dragging, but after some good food for lunch the next 47 miles just flew by with the wind in the back. That was two days in a row we had a tailwind most of the day, very cool.

We have not seen an alligator yet, but we have a few days yet….. Today at lunch our waitress heard us talking about it, she says “y’all wanna see a gator?? Well go to the swamps at night and shine a flashlight into the water and you will see his eyes come out of the water” then she continued “when we were kids we would also throw some tuna fish at them and they would come right out of the water, but that was when we were still stupid”. So I think I got it figured out “we drive by at night, shine the flashlight into the water get Andy to throw the tuna and I take the picture and we drive away” That might just work….. I just don’t think the others will go for it ‼!
