I'll keep updating this journal as I get ready for my big trip next year.
This morning we woke up to a beautiful day for the beginning of our 10 day bike ride with the Mike and Melissa Lojek and their son Andy and their friends Mary and Marty. The Lojek’s are starting leg 4 of a 5 leg trip from Maine to the Florida Keys. They are doing this as a 10 day trip twice a year with the total miles being 3000 and each leg equal to 600 miles. They are doing this to raise awareness for the Hyde School their son went to in Maine. This is the 4th leg and I am very excited that they invited us to ride with them. Dave is the “van Meister” (or sag support).
We started this morning at a point where they left off last spring. Group pictures of the gang were taken and off we went. We rode 69 miles today and it was just one of those perfect days. Sunny, warm, little wind and a very flat road and in South Carolina the fall colors are still very beautiful. We rode from approximately 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We ate lunch in Conway with a few snack stops along the way.
We are staying at the Mansfield Plantation, an old rice plantation of approximately 1000 acres just outside of Georgetown. Now to bed to get ready for tomorrow’s bike day.
